Description
Educational adventure and mini-game experience that invites students to explore the key processes of European colonization in the Americas through interactive storytelling and gameplay. Set in a historical museum that comes to life at night, players take on the role of a newly hired night guard who interacts with exhibits and symbolic representations of historical figures such as Christopher Columbus, Hernán Cortés, Pizarro, Pocahontas, and others. Each exhibit represents a major historical event and is experienced through missions and game-based challenges. The game combines two main mechanics: 2D board-based mini-games using symbolic pieces, and arcade-style challenges inspired by classic games. These mechanics allow students to explore complex historical topics—such as conquest, slavery, religious conversion, and the Columbian Exchange—in a respectful and age-appropriate way, without explicit depictions. Across 8 levels, students analyze the causes and consequences of colonization, compare Spanish, English, French, and Dutch colonial models, and reflect on their impact on Indigenous and European societies. European Colonization of the Americas turns the study of history into an active, thoughtful, and engaging classroom experience.
