Description

Garden Quest is a relaxing, educational adventure where players explore a vibrant island garden and help living organisms grow, develop, and reproduce. Players guide plants and insects through their life cycles by completing interactive tasks such as pollination, seed growth, and observing complete and incomplete metamorphosis. In a flowering plant’s life cycle, it will sprout from a seed, grow and develop into an adult, and produce seeds that can be dispersed to produce new plants.
When an insect undergoes incomplete metamorphosis, its life cycle includes egg, nymph, and adult.(ES)

Discussion Questions

Before the Game

Do you think a flowering plant and a beetle go through the same number of life stages? Why or why not?\ What role do you think the brightly colored petals of a flower might play in the life cycle of those plants? Why do you think plants produce so many seeds and insects lay so many eggs? How does producing a large number of offspring help ensure the survival of their species?

After the Game

What does the process of pollination include? What are the four stages of complete metamorphosis? What are the three stages of incomplete metamorphosis?
